As part of our Future Proofing Talent Though Diversity programme, Impact facilitated a visit and workshop for a group of Year 9 students (aged 13-14) from Heartlands High School in Haringey to UBM Events at their amazing global head office in SE1.UBM were generous hosts and the meeting kicked off with 4 staff members engagingly talking about their career journey and their roles at UBM. They were from Sales, Marketing, HR and Events and gave an insightful, interesting and often humorous account of their careers.  They were extremely well received and were an inspiration to all the children who attended. An event themed collaborative workshop followed and the students were split into groups with a remit to plan a music festival. Each group had to choose what to spend their budget on – venue, acts, food, stalls and staff.  The UBM team were on hand to assist and everything worked really well and was lots of fun.The feedback from the school was fantastic with many of the students completely surprised that successful careers could be made through organising events and we feel that some will be inspired to follow a career along these lines.UBM were delighted to host a workshop for 20 young people from Reach Out to inspire them on possible careers within the events industry – it also gave the volunteers at UBM a great chance to give something back to their local community which we are very passionate about as a company’.
