Having recently joined Impact myself, this was a great opportunity to see the Future Proofing Talent through Diversity programme first hand. This time, Grey London and Reach Out collaborated with fourteen Year 7 girls from Regent High School.

The Grey team showed us how their talented brains come together to create an array of iconic and emotive work. It’s no doubt that the cooperative work space enables this to happen. For the girls, this was the first time they had stepped foot inside a workplace, and I could feel their excitement as we walked past well known branded adverts.

This experience was beneficial to both myself and the girls as we learnt about the advertising industry and the different career paths you could take.  They also showed the girls they could start as a planner and later in life become a designer – there is not one clear route that is expected of us in recent times.

The girls learnt the importance of creating ads with current social issues in mind, by showing us the Always ad campaign and had us all thinking about improving confidence in young girls’ minds.

So what was the outcome of the mock creative ad workshop with the girls?

I watched all the bright, wonderful and colourful personalities work together to produce forward-thinking adverts … fresh, exciting and creative ideas that could result in some new recruits in a few years’ time at Grey London!  The future is young and diverse, and together we are making sure this happens.
