About the role.

Head of People Operations & Development
Independent Media Agency | London | Full Time
Hybrid - 3 days on-site | £70K

An opportunity to shape the People function of an ambitious, founder-led independent business as it continues to grow.

Working closely with the Chief People & Culture Officer, you'll lead a small team and bring together the operational, commercial and people-development sides of HR. From ensuring the fundamentals run smoothly to building stronger performance and development practices, you'll help create the structure the business needs for its next stage of growth.

 The role will include:
  • Leading the day-to-day HR operation, including employee relations, payroll, compliance and process improvement.
  • Using people data to identify trends, inform decisions and provide meaningful insight to senior leadership and the board.
  • Developing a consistent approach to performance, progression and leadership development.
  • Shaping learning initiatives around the skills the business needs now and in the future.
  • Coaching and developing the People team, building capability and ensuring the function delivers real value to the business.
You'll bring a strong grounding in UK HR operations and employment law, experience leading and developing a team, and the commercial judgement to balance business needs with a thoughtful, people-centred approach. You'll be comfortable working with data, improving processes and adapting as a business evolves.

Experience in a growing business is important with a background in media, marketing or the creative industries. Familiarity with HR technology, automation or AI would also be useful.

Why consider it? A chance to join an established independent business with an entrepreneurial mindset, where you can influence how the People function develops rather than simply maintain the status quo.

We are committed to creating an inclusive recruitment process and welcome applications from all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of age, disability, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
